We are proud to announce that Jim Simpson is Entrust America's Agency Achievement Award winner for March 2009.

Growing up in North Georgia (born in Tennessee), Jim was self-reliant from 9th grade on (even though his family could have supported him).
After a sports-ending encounter with a lawn mower at the end of 8th grade, Jim became the teams’ photographer. He built a thriving photography business which he operated throughout high school. He was the only student allowed a permanent pass to come and go from school as he chose. He never abused the privilege, and was a top student.
His philosophy was and is, “In all things give thanks.” (I Thessalonians 5:18)
He created a photo lab behind his home, and was developing color photos when the technology was very new. He worked his way through college photographing wedding - 240 of them!
He managed a photography shop for four years, and then got his first taste of person-to-person marketing with a cosmetics company in California, which was doing very well until the owner died in a plane crash.
He was hooked on the concept of helping others build their business, and benefiting financially from the overrides. That led him to the insurance business where he had a very successful career with Lincoln National Life. He turned around the performance of struggling divisions, worked his way up, and earned top awards.
He came to run the offices in Cincinnati in 1977, and continued to accumulate accolades and trophies, achieving Best Office in the Company/Nation.
Jim caught the Entrust Vision
He and Ken Stoll had known each other for years, each trying to recruit the other! Jim caught the vision of Entrust America, and was instrumental in developing the ground-breaking compensation plan. He is enjoying building his team.
A recurring theme throughout his life, he sees the potential and applies himself.
In his leisure time, he enjoys tennis, photography, technology and his video theatre. He loves to document his grandkids’ lives on video, and play Nintendo Wii (life-size sports and games, etc.)
What does Jim see in the future? He plans to continue having fun! He loves to coach young people and help them get outstanding results.
What is his best advice for building your Entrust America Business?
1. Spend time learning about the identity theft problem, how people are affected, etc.
2. Learn about the product, what it does, etc.
3. Help people awake and understand the problem. Everyone needs our product. It is our job to tell them!
4. Understand how good the compensation plan is and how to maximize it. Have someone teach it to you. Ask questions.
Who does Jim admire? He would love to spend a week with Abraham Lincoln. He also admires George W. Bush, and believes history will prove him right.
Jim’s Philosophies:
• You learn more in the valleys of life than on the top of the mountain.
• Money is only important when you don’t have enough.
• See the potential and apply yourself.
• It is smarter to “borrow experience” (learn from others!) and avoid trial and error.
• There is no coincidence. There’s a reason for everything.
Congratulations, Jim!

Entrust America Agency Owner, Gale Smith has a favorite article written in 2003, by Jeff Smith (no relation).
It provides valuable inights into the success enjoyed by business icons Bill Gates, Sam Walton and Walt Disney and how we can all learn from their experience. All three men had specific visions and dreams which led them to enjoy massive success that literally changed the world.
Gale Smith suggests you take a few moments to read the article below.

Is your eye on the Prize, rather than on adding value?
Have you noticed that online marketing has turned into a money-grabbing, greed-induced, morally deficient environment?
There are WAY too many online guru's, experts and noise makers that have forgotten that the way to generate true wealth and happiness is to add value to someone else's life.
It's time we re-examine what the best business marketing strategies really are!
Bill Gates had a vision to have a PC in every home.
Why?
It wasn't to make Billions - it was because he truly saw the potential computer applications and how they may help educate, entertain and enrich people's lives.
Sam Walton - his vision was to not only build the best value discount chain ever, but to employ a "family" of employees (associates) where he would enrich their lives.
How about good ol' Walt?
What business marketing strategies can he teach us are about?
The biggest dreamer of the bunch, Walt Disney's past is filled with vision and dreams of making people happy, improving the world - making money became important ONLY out of necessity of realizing his dream of improving the world!
IT SEEMS OBVIOUS TO ME THAT WE’VE GOT IT BACKWARDS!
Is it the desire for fast riches?
Are behaviors being driven by the need to maintain unrealistic lifestyles - usually to fill in for other voids in our lives?
Is it that we don't want to work for our success?
Is it that we don't dream anymore?
You may find this interesting – IMPORTANT BUSINESS MARKETING STRATEGIES TAUGHT TO ME BY THESE BUSINESS MOGUL HEROES
Bill Gates certainly didn't earn his Billions based on charisma, communication ability, or his ability to interact with his customers.
What did set Bill Gates aside from those who can only dream about achieving what he has achieved are: self-confidence, strong vision, passion and timing.
Very early on, Bill Gates stated that his goal was to put a PC in every home -- he's almost achieved that seemingly crazy statement in just a few short years.
It all started with a VISION that was backed by his own PASSION for technology, computers, and their applications to improving people's lives.
It was very clear that Bill Gates was not in it purely for the money - from day one! His business marketing strategies were based on very clear, deep purpose.
How about Sam Walton?
Mr. Walton brings a few other characteristics to the table: Extremely good understanding of his customers, unwavering respect for his "team" of associates, and a patience that saw him spend years TESTING his business model - building slow and stead growth - not succumbing to the BIG BUCK.
Sam Walton new his vision was a good one - to build a line of discount stores that would provide even more value to it's customers than their competitor - Kmart.
By running a few stores and constantly testing the product mix - after years, he finally arrived at the right business marketing strategy that stuck.
Walt Disney teaches us to dream BIG - even when you are starting with very small means.
Walt -- with little more than $40 in his pocket -- stated that he would make great Hollywood movies someday. How crazy must that have sounded?
What was his business marketing strategy?
He dared to DREAM BIGGER - when he decided to turn his animation characters into multi-streamed entertainment products including television, books, and his biggest dream of all - Disney World.
He didn't even live to see the opening of Disney World - but what a dream?
THE REALLY TOUGH QUESTONS WE MUST ALL ASK OURSELVES
What are you willing to do to live your dreams?
How many false starts are you prepared to have?
How much action are you willing to take in the face of many setbacks?
Does your business marketing strategy reflect your beliefs and strong purpose?
Are you willing to be true to your dreams, beliefs, character and ethics - even when times seem really tough?
These are questions we all must answer EVERY DAY no matter what business or life we are leading.
Hopefully we are able to say YES a lot more than NO!
Entrust America is pleased to announce that the Agency Achievement Award Winner for February 2008 are Gale & Laura Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio
Who are Gale & Laura Smith?
In a small Midwestern town, with almost no training after high school, Gale worked his way up in a steel equipment manufacturing company. In 1969, after being there for eleven years, he took a 100% commission job with a Dayton, Ohio based industrial distribution company and moved his family to Columbus, OH.

He had always had the dream of being rewarded in direct proportion to his own efforts-- not pigeon-holed, as he put it (being paid by the hour, based on a title or position) and was promoted again and again, moving his family to Dayton in 1970 and then to Cincinnati in 1972.
In 1976 he resigned, using the $40,000 from the sale of their residence, and founded his own materials handling equipment distribution company, Motion Savers, Inc. This was the fulfillment of his dream to be rewarded in proportion to his output.
Before officially retiring in 1996, Gale and Laura went on to found EasyLift Systems, Inc., Wellington Industries Inc., Smith & English dba Toot's Restaurants of Bowling Green, KY and Cincinnati. Laura managed the books—and the family!
He and Laura now manage the day-to-day activities of The Smith Family Foundation, the 501(C)(3) non-profit he created in 1996. As he says, “No longer doing what works but what matters.”
PLEASE NOTE: He is one of the least retired and least retiring people you will ever meet!
Gale got involved with Entrust America through a friend who knew his heart for helping others and his passion for great business were a perfect match with the goals and standards of Entrust America.
Leadership is the key
Gale values the concept of “Servant Leadership” and sees it embodied at Entrust America. That was a key determining factor to join the Entrust America effort.
“Ken Stoll, its Founder & President is one of those special leaders that you meet once or twice in a lifetime. His vision, coupled with his hunger for change - his energy and stamina to persist and his will to finish – will, in my opinion, lead this company to greatness.
Gale observed that Entrust America was founded with the mission to help families overcome obstacles and roadblocks in the existing financial services and credit system, and to build a community where all can share and achieve dreams, purpose and happiness.
Today Entrust America and its associates seek to achieve that through the philosophy and practice of Servant Leadership--leaders that seek to first serve others. After over two months of researching the company, he concluded that at Entrust America, these concepts are both their commitment and their aspiration.
The leader is the "servant" of his followers in that he removes the obstacles that prevent them from doing their jobs. In short, the true leader enables his or her followers to realize their full potential.
Max DePree
We cannot become what we need to be by remaining what we are.
Max DePree
Gale recommends http://www.depree.org/html/maxdepree.html for more information about Servant Leadership. The must-read book is Leadership is an Art by Max DePree.
Of his family he says, “We have been blessed with four of the most incredible kids and nine grandkids in the universe. And, as unbelievable as it might seem, they all live in Cincinnati. Laura and I have been married for fifty-one years and we had all four of the kids during the first five years of our marriage (Leslie, Terry, Jeff & Todd). We grew up with our kids, and we couldn’t be more proud of them.
I saved the best for last, my darling wife Laura-- who I cherish and I hope someday to become the man she deserves.”
In his leisure time, Gale loves to read and “… just be with people - all kinds, all colors, all sizes and shapes.” Dan Monk, of The Cincinnati Business Courier, once said of him, “Smith is a connector, a relentless networker who bonds with people the way pollen sticks to bees. He oozes optimism, as constant as the power-of-positive-thinking one-liners that punctuate his speech.”
"The secret of living is giving." That's one of his favorites. Another: "Dreams come a size too big, so you can grow into them."
Future hopes & dreams-Primarily just to continue to work toward achieving his highest and best in life - focusing on the mission and vision of The Smith Family Foundation*…..Serving Youth Worldwide….while being guided by the foundations motto, ”The Secret of Living is Giving.”
*Vision: To foster a community-wide commitment to build a supportive environment where all young people know they are valued and are encouraged to seek their highest potential in life, and to create and strengthen the infrastructures that support the positive development of all youth in the Greater Cincinnati community.
He also looks forward to spending more time with his family and fulfilling a promise to his wife, Laura, to do more traveling.
When asked for his best advice for building the business he was quick to share from an article he saved in 2003 by Jeff Smith (no relation) that had made a major impact on him, pointing out that it was no accident these guys ended up living their dreams and making truckloads of money!
“What could you possibly learn from geeky Bill Gates, thrifty Sam Walton or‘Mouse man’ Walt Disney? They focused on adding value with clear, deep purpose, not just making money…” (Note: In our next installment of Entrust Insider we will provide the text of the full article.)
To build your Entrust America business, he said to “get and stay plugged in to your active ‘up line,’ think long term, never, never, never quit, and get ready for the ride of your life!
Gale loves quotes, and two of his favorite sources are www.johnmaxwell.com and www.compendiuminc.com
Some other personal favorites:
”You cannot hope to build a better world without improving individuals. To that end, each of us must work for our own improvement and, at the same time, share a general responsibility of all humanity, our particular duty being to aid those to whom we think we can be most useful.” Madame Marie Curie, Scientist
By ourselves we suffer severe limitations. Together we can be something wonderful. Max DePree

Appreciating differences and recognizing how much we need one another….our two biggest challenges.
Gale Smith
I don’t do anything by myself; as a result, there isn’t anything I can’t do.
Gale Smith
When asked if he ever thought of writing a book he said he already has the title: (WD)²E (What Do We Do EXACTLY?) “Figuring out exactly what to do is the hard part; doing the work is the easy part!”
He went on to say that he has been blessed with a journey that taught him why most ideas that occur to us during our life, end up in the graveyard (“I’m afraid most folks die with the dream in their belly.“) He says the reason is simple … we’re all born hard-wired to be good at certain things. We need to understand that none of us possesses all of the tools to take an idea forward and that it’s only together that you can achieve anything major.
Closing thoughts…
On a personal note Gale says “I feel Entrust America is my destiny. Little by little, the opportunity to do something truly great emerged. The synchronicity of the people who have become involved with Entrust America is exhilarating. We were looking for the same thing – Excellence. We found it in the ownership, the best tools, products and system. I have no doubt that this has happened for a purpose, and the timing in my career gives me a special opportunity to save the best for last and to create a legacy that will endure.”
